Our Core Values at Work

What’s your favorite way to pursue knowledge?
I love learning on my iPad ... great mix of multi-media and interactivity.
What’s one true thing about you that not many people know?
I used to commute to Los Angeles. From Raleigh. I was working for the RTP office of a company that was headquartered in Pasadena when I was promoted to a position that required 100% travel to open new offices around the country or be at the home office. At the end of this tour of duty, I was taking a Monday morning flight to LAX, spending two weeks in Pasadena and then flying home on a Thursday or Friday red-eye.
What’s the bravest thing you’ve ever done?
This is a tough one ... not because there are many things, but because there are so few I can think of. When I was about 11 years old, my dog started to choke on a bone. It was lodged behind her teeth at the back of her throat and she was stumbling around, clawing at her throat. According to my mom, I wrestled with her a bit in order to get my hand in her mouth and then had to tug on the bone to get it out. I was able to make it through with some minor scratches and bites.
What makes you a great team member?
I know it's cliche, but I'll do whatever it takes to help get the job done. Several years back, I was the CFO of a production company, and we were shooting a show for Discovery Health on our sound stages when suddenly all of our toilets and floor drains started overflowing. I grabbed a mop and bucket and dove in to help with cleanup while the shoot wrapped.
What are five things that make you happy?
My daughter's giggle; playing soccer with my son; my wife's smile; sunrise over the ocean with a cup of coffee; sunset in the mountains with a craft beer.
